We’re excited to welcome two postdoctoral fellows, Dr. Numan Ullah and Dr. John Cooper, to the Jones Lab!

Numan joins us from Yangzhou University, China, where he completed his PhD in the Transposon Lab. In the Jones Lab, Numan will focus on high-throughput profiling of Type V Cas nucleases, leveraging his experience in RNA-guided nuclease discovery and engineering to explore the diversity and function of these CRISPR systems.

John, who completed his PhD at the University of Texas at Austin, brings a background in proteostasis and aging biology. At the Jones Lab, he will be developing a parallel droplet microfluidics-based assay to study how secondary structure variation in Cas12a guide RNAs influences target binding and cleavage—combining computational and experimental approaches to deepen our understanding of CRISPR function.

We're excited to have Numan and John join our team and look forward to the innovative research they’ll lead!
